About the Author
Bernard M. Bass is Distinguished Professor of Management Emeritus and Founding Director of the Center for Leadership Studies at Binghamton University, State University of New York. Dr. Bass is the author of over 300 articles and 24 books concentrating on leadership, organizational behavior, and human resource management. Between 1952 and the present, he has been the principal investigator on numerous federal, state, and private foundation research grants. He was the founding Editor of The Leadership Quarterly, and he has consulted with and conducted training for many of the Fortune 500 firms and has lectured or conducted workshops in over 40 countries. Professor Bass is also a Senior Scientist for the Gallup Organization and a member of the Board of Governors for the Kravis Leadership Institute.For the past 25 years, Professor Bass has focused much of his research on transformational leadership and management development. In 1994, he received the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions. In 1997, he was honored by the Society for Psychology in Management with the annual Lifetime Award for the Practice of Psychology in Management. Ronald E. Riggio is the Henry R. Kravis Professor of Leadership and Organizational Psychology and Director of the Kravis Leadership Institute at Claremont McKenna College. He has served on the faculties of the University of California, San Francisco, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, and California State University, Fullerton. Professor Riggio is the author of over 100 books, book chapters, and research articles in the areas of leadership, organizational psychology, and social psychology. His research work has included published studies on empathy, social intelligence, and the role of social skills and emotions in leadership potential and leadership success. In addition to his 30 years of teaching courses in organizational psychology and related areas, Professor Riggio has been an organizational consultant to numerous private and public sector organizations, including several Fortune 500 companies. Riggio is an Associate Editor of The Leadership Quarterly and is on the editorial boards of Leadership and Leadership Review.

An easy read that identifies the key characteristic of transformational leaders (as well as transactional and pseudo-transformational leaders). This book puts some "social science" around the information that most of us have "gut feelings" about anyway. Those looking to improve their leadership skills will benefit from this book. The real shame is that those managers and supervisors who generally "suck" and are happy with mediocrity probably won't pick the book up, much less read it.
The digital download for this book is the WRONG book and I just paid for a book that I already bought because the one in the picture is not the book that was downloaded to my kindle!!! Don't buy it unless they fix the problem.
It is a great book for management majors. My majoring is management and I use this book for my leadership paper. I recommend to eveyone who interested in transformational and transactional leadership style.
Good shape!
Easy to read,good examples, theories presented in a simple and interesting way, not bad at all. Tables were confusing but overall not the worst leadership theory book I've had to read by far. It's a really short book so I thought it was a little expensive for it being just a little booklet basically. I really learned a lot from it honestly, so it was worth getting. I recommend you take the MLQ test so as you're reading you can be comparing how you scored in the different categories it discusses.
This book is a great tool for understanding Transformational leadership!! This is what you need if you were to write a paper on the subject! It's also a great addition to your collection for personal growth
I have been a fan of leadership ideas for many. In my career myself and others have always known what works best. Bass & Riggio very carefully adds definition and supportive research behind every aspect of Full Range Leadership. It can get no better than this.
I took a few Undergraduate classes on business leadership and this book was very helpful and is probably one of the best books on Leadership.
