My 4 year old daughter LOVES this book. It's constantly in our bedtime story rotation. She loves watching for the cute hamster and T-rex characters on all the pages, and she loves the pages with counting and interaction. It's one of her favorites, and as her mom I love learning about all the artists! What a great way to introduce young children to different art styles. The illustrations are just beautiful. I love the alliteration in a lot of the writing too. It's perfect for my Pre-schooler learning different letter sounds. We loved If Picasso Painted a Snowman by this same couple, but I would say my 4 year old enjoys this one even more.
I found this author and illustrator, this year and am so pleased. I loved this married duo's work. Introducing art in such a clever way is a delight. I volunteered teaching art in elementary school for seventeen years and would have loved these books for my lessons. I can only imagine the kids art if I'd had this resource!
Such a cute, wonderful story! The illustration is phenomenal! My favorite part is the explanation of who the artists are.
Love the idea of famous artists painting a subject that kids can relate to. The Newbolds do a great job: illustrations are spot on and I love the short artist bios in the back of the book.

Dinosaurs!One little mouse is sharing his artistic eye and asking the “what if†question about what a dinosaur might look like if painted by some very famous artists. The first thing young readers will see and learn is how to draw a dinosaur by using various shapes. As readers turn the pages they will see some fantastic illustrations featuring dinosaurs depicted in well known art. Simple sentences introduce these artists. The back pages share a short bio of the artists and dinosaurs featured and even some advice on how to create art.Parents and teachers can have fun introducing art and some very famous artists. Young readers can discuss and share some of their own doodles or coloring pages they’ve created. This is also a great tool to teach kids about art museums and how they function.
This is a cute book and the little hamster that is the artist is perky and fun. Essentially the "story" is a journey through the works of various artist's styles and what their work of painting a dinosaur might look like.At the back of the book, a short bio of the artists is given which is nice for families that expose their young children to art. But for those families that don't, this is just a cute story and the kiddies will miss the actual points of reference to artists and their distinctive styles.Still, it is a cute book and one to choose to read from the library.I received a complimentary copy to facilitate a review of my own opinions.
