This was wonderful for a child to grasp the actual concept of subtraction and not just memorize facts. (Although memorizing does happen naturally with this program, it's just not drilled in with no awareness of the "why") We used Addition Facts That Stick and then Subtraction Facts That Stick immediately after. I'm so happy we tried this program! My child hated using flash cards, but didn't mind at all playing the "games" in the book to learn his facts. If you use the program like its intended (each week has a different set of facts) and go slow, it's simple. A few games a week and suddenly you've got them memorized! :)

Such a great book. I pulled my daughter (2nd grade) from public school in 6 months ago. She was struggling with subtraction, even in 1st grade, and she was about to start multiplcation. Even though she was pretty good with addition, we went through Kate Snow's Addition Facts that Stick, so she could understand the method. After completing both books, she is confident and not using her fingers! Can't wait for the multiplcation and division books!!

I have been a homeschooling mom for the past 11 years. My boys found math easy. My daughter has not. This is a fun book, and my 8 year old daughter has enjoyed playing the games. For her, it has not taught her all the math facts as quickly as the book states is possible. What it DOES do is give us more fun ways to practice those math facts. It takes the work out of it for me, and keeps the fun in it for her. Unlike other games, even ones on apps or the computer, these have not lost their charm- I think because she enjoys that most of them are social and do need another player. (She is very social.)

Kate Snow, you're a genius! I bought this book along with the addition book and went through both books (addition first, as suggested by the author) during my daughter's summer vacation - she has learned all the facts and they truly do stick! She's started 2nd grade and is breezing her way through math. We actually didn't follow the book in it's entirety - once we got to the backwards addition technique, it was enough for my daughter to apply that to all the remaining subtraction facts. This also helped solidify the addition facts she learned. I felt that these books are definitely Common Core-aligned, although not stated as such. Considering that CC teaches/wants kids to think intuitively rather than employ rote memorization, these books follow that philosophy and the result is remarkable.

We homeschool, and have done this and addition facts that stick in addition to our other math curriculum. I’m so grateful for these book, because they’ve helped my kids master their facts in a fun way. They always want to play the games and there’s been no complaining about doing math while using these books.

My kindergartener really likes this series. We already finished the addition companion books and he felt quite proud about it. Easy and fun lessons with short but meaningful practice activities for the week to reinforce.

This is a short and simple book. It is very well written and easy to use. I ordered the kindle edition. I wish I hadn't. There are printouts mentioned in the book that aren't available on the Kindle edition.

Absolutely the best book you can buy if your child is struggling to get to grips with the concept of substraction! The author addressed all my questions and really understands how kids think. This book is easy to use and teaches the subtraction facts in an eight-week period, with good examples, a fun game and some exercises for each week. We are only halfway through the book, but I can already see a huge improvement in my son’s attitude to maths. He also approaches subtraction problems with more confidence and even refers to the book as our fun book! He cannot wait to do the fun book every day! I can not recommend this book highly enough. Fabulous!
